Abigail Aranda Salgado, 87, passed away October 19, 2014 at her home in Marfa.
She was born on June 8, 1927 to Don Manuel and Juliana Garcia Aranda in Imperial, Texas. She was raised in La Mula, Chihuahua, Mexico and it was there that she married Tomas Salgado on June 2, 1945.
The couple and their three oldest daughters moved to Presidio in 1954 where they lived for many years and raised their 10 children.
Mam, as everyone called her, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She raised her 10 children in a loving and nurturing home. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She was a Catholic.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Tomas Salgado of Marfa, their children Enedina Granado and husband Raymundo of El Paso, Olivia Columbus and husband Roger of San Angelo, Alma Cabezuela and husband Joe of Marfa, Hector and wife Liliana of Midland, Rosario Halpern and husband Robert of Marfa, Tomas Jr and wife Maria de Jesus of Marfa, daughter Teresa Salgado Juarez of Marfa, Juan and wife Rebecca of San Angelo, Mario and wife Lucila, of San Angelo, and Maribel Bauelos and husband Adalberto of El Paso.
She is also survived by 24 grandchildren,13 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
Rosary was recited Tuesday, October 21st at St. Marys Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was held Wednesday with burial at Merced Cemetery. Father Pablo Matta officiated.
Services were entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.
