Albert Hartnett Rojo, Jr, “Conky”, entered eternal rest on February 8th, 2023, at the age of 71, at home in San Jose, CA. Albert was born on April 26, 1951, in Ysleta, TX, and raised in Alpine, TX. He graduated from Alpine High School in the class of 1970. Albert was a Buck athlete played multiple sports, and quarterback for the Buck football team.
Albert married Linda Valenzuela on June 30, 1973, in Alpine, TX.
Albert had spent his young adult years working at Safeway in Alpine. After marriage and the birth of their first son, Albert and Linda moved to San Jose, CA, in 1978. Albert started his career as a U.S. Postal Service clerk in 1979. He retired in 2003.
Albert was a big sports fan, a lifelong Dallas Cowboys and Oakland A’s fan. Albert was instrumental in the creation of the Alpine A’s baseball team in the 1970’s. He enjoyed playing golf, working on his yard, and visiting Alpine every year. He especially enjoyed visiting during the Bucks football season. After retirement, Albert spent long periods of time in Alpine taking care of his parents in their later years. Albert was a charming, friendly people person, strangers became friends. He held on to his school friends and cherished their friendships all his life.
Albert is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Rojo; brother Danny Rojo, Sr, (Glenda) of Midland; sister Patsy Rojo Martinez of Alpine; a stellar Dad to sons Ronnie Rojo (Gabriela); Ricky Rojo; and daughter Sandra Renteria (Juan). A doting Popo to five grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Alyssa, Alexander, Ella, Liliana, and Joaquin.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Margaret Rojo.
Funeral services are scheduled on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Our Lady of Peace Church, with Rosary, Mass and burial to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery.
