Alicia Morales, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on March 25, 1942, in Fort Davis, Texas. She departed this world on August 16, 2024, leaving a mark on the hearts of who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Alicia was a radiant soul with the gift of gab, always eager to engage in heartfelt conversations and welcome friends into her circle. Her nurturing spirit was felt by many, especially her cherished grandchildren, with whom she loved to spend hours connecting and creating lasting memories.
A faithful servant of Jesus, Alicia’s life was guided by her profound kindness and unwavering faith. She lived a James 1:27 life; caring for others and teaching her children and grandchildren to hope in the Lord. Her sweet demeanor and generous nature were matched only by her incredible cooking and baking skills, which brought family and friends together around her table time and again.
After attending Fort Davis High School, Alicia’s life took a beautiful turn on June 14, 1959, when she married the love of her life, Benjamin Morales. Together, they resided at the Hester Brite Ranch where they raised three children, fostering an environment rich in love and support until his retirement. In addition to her legacy as a devoted wife and mother, she also had a green thumb, caring for her garden with the same passion she infused into her family. Her grandchildren will fondly remember her saying, “Love you more,” at the end of every visit and phone call.
Alicia is survived by her loving sisters, Mary Ann Lara and Teresa Salcido. Her daughters, Mary Alice Hughes (Thomas) and Yolanda Jurado, continue to carry forward her values of love and compassion. She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren: Javier Castro (Samantha), Elizabeth Gandy (Tucker), Robert Morales (Kelci), Isabella Morales, and Diego Jurado, as well as eight great-grandchildren who were a source of endless joy and pride for her.
Alicia's memory will be eternally cherished, not only by her living family but also by the love that remains for those who preceded her in death, including her beloved husband, Benjamin Morales, her son, Robert Morales, her parents, George and Margarita Rodriguez, and her precious grandchildren, Benjamin Castro and Eric Hughes.
