Alma Faye Murrell, 88, of Alpine, Texas, went to be with her lord on Nov. 4, 2017. She was born in Rose Claire, Illinois, on Feb. 26, 1929. Her family moved to Missouri in 1937. Alma met Calvin Murrell in 1944, and they were married June 16, 1945.
In 1961 they moved to Pasadena, Texas. They started a family business, Murrells Service Center, and ran it for 42 years until Calvin passed away in 1987. They raised three children together. Alma and her son kept the business going until he moved to Alpine, Texas, in 1995. She was a member of the first church of the Nazarene of Pasadena for 50 years. She was a warm, friendly, and caring person. She devoted much of time to the church and to helping people.
In 1992 Alma married Harry Bloom, and they moved to Alpine in 2016. Harry passed on later that year. Alma lived the next year of her life independently, watching the deer from her living room window, and enjoying Alpine.
She was the last surviving sibling of her family, which included Gertrude Belt, Billie Ervin, Mary Ann Meales, Dorothy Shields, Gordon Belt, and Fred Privitt.
Surviving children include Pamela Blanton and her husband Mark Blanton of Houston, Texas; Rachel Davis of Houston; and Dwayne Murrell and his wife Carrie Murrell of Alpine.
Grandchildren include Jeff Davis and his wife Margo Davis of Kilgore, Texas; Jason Murrell and his wife Angela Murrell of Alpine; Nichole Woodruff and her husband Taylor Woodruff of Austin, Texas; Todd Blanton and his wife Crystal Blanton of Missouri; and Dylan Murrell of Alpine.
She also had 10 great grandchildren, including Brittany Murrell, Katelyn Murrell, and Madison Murrell of Alpine; Ava Bell Woodruff, and one on the way, of Austin; Karsen Davis, Haylie Davis, Garrett Davis of Kilgore; and Diesel Blanton and Axle Blanton of Missouri.
