Alonzo Aguilar

Alonzo G. Aguilar, of Alpine, Texas, surrounded by his loving family, closed his eyes to his earthly home and was welcomed to his heavenly home by his beloved Alicia. He was 72.
Alonzo was born on June 25, 1946 to Pablo Aguilar and Elisa (Gallegos) Aguilar in Alpine, Texas. He later met and married the love of his life Alicia Aguilar.
Praying of the Most Holy Rosary was prayed on Saturday, July 7th, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, July 7th, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Father Hector Chicas, and Deacon Paul Lister serving as Celebrants. Burial followed at Holy Angels Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were: Daniel Vega, Daniel Vega, Jr., Cody Alonzo Aguilar, Jared Alonzo Aguilar, Malik Aguilar, Jett Aguilar Garcia, Gerardo Sanchez, Eric Garcia, and Rick Munoz.
In 1968, Alonzo and his wife Alicia opened their first business. A 2 car garage to fix flats, do oil changes, wash cars, and to sell gasoline. Alonzo grew up picking cotton in the West Texas summers, chopping down trees in the West Texas winters, and hauling and moving dirt and caliche. His loving family consisted of his parents, 8 siblings that all came from very humble beginning. From a very early age, hard work and dedication was instilled in all the children. When Alonzo and Alicia opened a 2 car garage, and made their first dollar, the couple knew that it was their calling.
For 50 years, the Aguilars have operated numerous businesses in the Alpine area. Three gas stations that all sold beer, the first service window as well as the first gas station on the southside of Alpine, a laundromat, a bar n lounge, and the famous Alicia's Mexican Restaurant that is still operating today. The Aguilar vision also gave birth to the creation of Zo's Barbershop.
The Aguilar's were always working at the Pik Pak or were outside working on their private collection of cars. Alonzo was a very hard worker, as well as the smartest man the family has every known. His vision for the future of the Aguilar family, was unparalleled to any other human being.
A truly beautiful day is upon us, although the gas station has been closed since Alonzo's battle with cancer has started, the family is still honored, that his heart and mind truly remained. With out the vision of Alonzo and Alicia, Alicia's Mexican Food Restaurant and Zo's Barbershop would not be in operation today. Their honor and legacy will always be in the hearts of their children.
When Alonzo was asked about business advise, he would give one short simple answer, "Do something you enjoy, and go at it 100 percent."
Preceding Alonzo in death are: his beloved wife Alicia Aguilar, his parents Pablo and Elisa Aguilar, his grandparents Felix and Maria Aguilar, Santiago and Ramona Gallegos.
Those left to cherish and honor the memory of Alonzo are: his daughters Melinda Aguilar Vega and husband Daniel, Pricilla Aguilar, and Roxane Aguilar Garcia and her husband Eric; one son Alonzo Aguilar, Jr., and wife Ismeralda. Sisters Eva Aguilar Gonzalez and husband Robert, Mary Helen Aguilar Carrasco and husband Homero, Norma Aguilar Rodriguez and husband Eddie; brothers Isabel Garcia and wife Mary, Pablo Aguilar, Jr., and wife Angelita, Adan Aguilar and wife Sylvia, Freddy Aguilar and wife Linda, Santiago Aguilar and wife Tina, and Luis Aguilar and his wife Tencha. 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. His beloved friends Prudence, Albert and Noella, Hillard Family from Katy, Sixto Aguilar, and All of His Loyal Customers over the 50 years of service.
Here's to you Mom and Dad, 50 years of family business and now you are reunited and together again. We will miss you dearly Dad. Give Mom a kiss and a hug for us. We Love you Chingos, Your Kids, Grandkids, and Great Grandkids.
