Alta Jane Sproull, a nurturing spirit and devoted member of her community, left this world on November 26, 2024, in the tranquil surroundings of Alpine, Texas. Born on August 27, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama, Alta’s journey was one marked by compassion, devotion, and a zest for life that enriched all those who had the privilege to know her.
After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from Stratford College, she went on to pursue her passion for caring at Weber State College of Nursing. Her career as a Registered Nurse was not merely a profession but a calling that she embraced wholeheartedly, tending to the needs of her patients with unparalleled dedication and warmth.
An active member of the First Baptist Church in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Alta's faith colored her interactions and endeavors. She embraced her role in the church community, cultivating relationships that reflected her gift for making strangers feel like family. Her kindness radiated outward, encompassing all aspects of her life—she was known for her hospitality, always inviting others into her heart.
Beyond her professional and spiritual commitments, Alta found joy in the simpler pleasures of life. Shopping brought her delight, and her love for animals, particularly her beloved cat, Cholene, filled her days with happiness. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, finding joy in the laughter and love of her family.
Alta leaves behind her two daughters, Claiborne Callahan and Michaeleen Callahan, who carry forward her legacy of love and compassion. Her cherished grandchildren, Rosemary Doucleff and Crawford Moore, will hold tight to the memories of their grandmother’s warmth.
Alta is reunited in spirit with her beloved parents, Reavis Sproull and Mildred Sproull, along with her brother, Clayton Sproull. Her memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of those she touched with her grace and kindness.
As we remember Alta Jane Sproull, let us celebrate a life lived with purpose and love—a beacon of compassion and warmth, whose legacy continues to inspire those who walk in her light.
