Andrew Joseph Gido

May 15, 2000 — October 28, 2024

Ellicott City

Andrew Joseph Gido, born on May 15, 2000, in the city of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on October 28, 2024, in Big Bend National Park, Texas at the early age of 24.

He was a resident of Ellicott City, Maryland, where he attended The Jemicy School. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, in Olney, MD, graduating in 2018.

After high school, Andrew headed west to explore his world. A lover of the outdoors, he sought employment in several well-known national parks in the Western U.S. Notably, Andrew spent a couple of seasons working in Yellowstone, Wyoming, one summer in Denali, Alaska, and this past summer in Glacier National Park, Montana. The past two winters, Andrew obtained his dream job: living and working at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming.

Andrew’s love of the outdoors led to passions for skiing, snowboarding and hiking. He was an avid hiker who loved traveling and exploring national parks throughout the country, often combining his adventures with his interest in photography. Andrew’s love for life and deep appreciation for nature was evident in all he did. Having skied and snowboarded 122 days this past winter and hiked over 300 miles this summer, he was quoted as saying he was “having the best year of my adult life!” He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten as his memory will forever serve as a reminder that to find joy, we should seek out new experiences and embrace the beautiful world around us, just as Andrew did.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Heidi Gido, and brother Thomas. He is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 30 Melvin Avenue, Catonsville, MD. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM in the Coakley Room across from the Church. Everyone is welcome.
