Anita Vasquez Serrano, a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend entered eternal rest on June 6th, 2017, at her residence. She was 82.
Mrs. Serrano was born on May 4th, 1935 in Marfa, Texas to Miguel Vasquez and Martina Alvarado Vasquez. She was a graduate of Marfa High School, and was a homemaker. She met and married the love of her life, Johnny Serrano, Sr. Anita and Johnny would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary June 26, 2017.
Rosary for Anita was held on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church with Sister Margie Silguero. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Deacon Dr. Paul Lister with burial following at El Merced Cemetery in Marfa, Texas.
Those honoring by serving as pallbearers were: Alex Clark, Matthew Fields, Nicolas Alvarez, Cody Granado, Brian Jarratt, and Mario Serrano.
Anita is preceded in death by her parents Miguel and Martina Vasquez; her sister Aurora Lujan, and her brother Manuel Vasquez.
Those left to honor and cherish the memory of Anita are: her husband of 57 years Johnny Serrano, Sr. of Marfa; her daughters Sylvia Fields and husband Charles, and Martha Serrano and her husband Robert Olazaba all of Alpine; her sons Johnny Serrano, Jr. of San Angelo and Michael Serrano of Marfa; her grandchildren Alyssa Fields and Fiancé Nicolas Alvarez of Abilene, Texas, Matthew Fields, Alex Clark of Alpine, Michaela Serrano and Fiancé Cody Granado of Fort Davis, and John Michael Serrano of Marfa. Her great granddaughter Mckenna Granado of Fort Davis and her great grandson Bentley Serrano of Marfa, as well as several nieces and nephews. Anita is also survived by her beloved Chihuahua Sandy.
