Dayna Yarborough Mast went home to be with the Lord on December 15, 2015.
Memorial services for Dayna will be held on Saturday, December 19th, at the First Baptist Church in Alpine, Texas at 2:00 p.m. There will be a reception to follow.
Dayna was born July 30, 1954 in Lubbock, TX. She grew up in Midland, TX and later resided in Alpine, TX. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University and after college worked as a counselor for at-risk teens.
In 1984,Dayna moved to far West Texas and would raise her three children on a family ranch near Alpine where she would live the rest of her life. A single mother for much of this time, she embraced the frontier and brought up her children with the spirit of adventure - whether it be rafting down the Rio Grande along Big Bend National Park or hikes on the ranch.
Dayna will be remembered for how loving, kind, and generous she was to friends and strangers alike. Dayna brought sunshine everywhere she went. She had a joyful heart that was a comfort to many.
She owned and operated a fitness gym in downtown Alpine, which allowed her to use her high - spirited personality to actively engage the local community in a meaningful way.
Dayna recently spent Thanksgiving hosting family and friends. It was full of love and laughter. She took great care to prepare food for a house filled with loved ones - a special reminder to everyone the importance of a grateful heart.
Dayna was preceded in death by her son Taylor Yarborough; daughter Jordon Yarborough; mother Gwendolyn Clemmons Hedges; and brother Joe Henderson Jr.
Dayna is survived by her husband Hank Mast; son Justin Yarborough (Ashley); her parents Pat and Joe Henderson Sr. of Midland; two sisters Terri Balkey (Bill) and Sonya Buehler-Henderson; one brother Vince Henderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
