Elidia Gallego Leyva

Elidia Gallego Leyva, 89, of Alpine, Texas passed away December 18, 2023 at her residence.  Elidia was born on July 19, 1934 to Ben and Amelia Gallego in Alpine, Texas.  She attended Centennial School.  She was married to Abelardo Leyva and was mother to Abelardo “Ito” Leyva, Jr. and Orlando Leyva.

Elidia was an avid baseball fan and attended the Alpine Cowboys games. She loved to cook and entertain.  She was an Alpine Bucks fan and loved her scratch-offs. 

Elidia Gallego Leyva’s funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church on December 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with burial at Holy Angels Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. on December 27, 2023 with Rosary to follow at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Elidia was preceded in death by her husband, Abelardo Leyva; parents, Ben and Amelia Gallego; brother, Ben Gallego, Jr.; and sister, Lorisa Gallego. 

She is survived by her sons, Abelardo “Ito” (Corina), and Orlando (Baudelia) Leyva; grandchildren, Isela (Jason) Garcia, Cesar (Stephanie) Leyva, and Orlando R. Leyva; great-grandchildren, Issa and Vincent Garcia.  She is also survived by brothers, Ruben, Jimmy, and B.J. Gallego; sisters, Irene Espinoza, and Berta Celaya.
