Felix "Gaga" Llanez, Sr., passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the age of 93. He was born in Terlingua, Texas on December 20, 1922.
Rosary service will be held Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace with Fr. Robert S. Kobe officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Holy Angels cemetery. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Felix was born to Ursulo and Catarina Llanez. They moved to Alpine when he was a young boy.
He married Cruz C. Hernandez in 1945, they were married for 63 years.
Felix was an avid baseball player, playing until he was 63 years old. He attended all local baseball games without fail, his true passion. He joined the Alpine Evening Lions Club and was an active member for many years. He was a devoted Catholic and was a member and involved in the Crusillitas organization until his later years in life. He enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with his family and many friends.
He is survived by his loving family. His daughters; Hortencia Ramos of Alpine, Olga (Wally) Cobos of Grandpraire, Tx, Eva (Sigredo, Jr.) Bustos of Blanket, Tx, Lupe Acosta of Odessa, Tx, sons; Arturo Llanez, Sr. of Alpine and Juan (Estolia) Llanez of Corpus Christi, Tx, brothers; Pilar (Ramona) Llanez of Alpine, Refugio ( Patricia) Llanez of Alpine, George (Maria) Llanez of Odessa, Patricio (Delfina) Llanez of Lamesa, sisters; Maria Delgadillo of Odessa, and Esperanza Chavez of Odessa. He had 30 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 26 great, great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ursulo and Catarina Llanez, wife Cruz H. Llanez, sons Adan Llanez, Felix Llanez, Jr., Alvaro Hernandez, Juan Jose Hernandez and daughter Elidia Mancha.
