It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald C. Granado announces his passing on July 16, 2018, at the age of 59 years.
Gerald was born and raised in Alpine, Texas, and was a member of the Alpine Fighting Buck Band. He served as drum major for the marching band and played the saxophone. He attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, for a year before moving to San Angelo, Texas, in 1979.
In 1980, Gerald met his wife, Marie, and raised their three children in San Angelo. Gerald had a love of playing golf and had two hole-in-one experiences during his life, one at San Angelo Country Club, and one at Horseshoe Bay Resort. He shared that love of golf with his children. He and his family enjoyed following Jeremy and Jaclyn as they participated in the Northern Texas PGA Junior Tour and Central High School golf teams.
He took pride in watching his oldest daughter, Jasmine, perform under the Friday nights lights as a San Angelo Central High School Tex-Ann (drill team) and a cheerleader.
Gerald was the ultimate Dallas Cowboys fan who cheered for the Boyz in Blue, no matter the circumstance. His life-long dream of watching the Dallas Cowboys win a super bowl was fulfilled when he traveled to California for Super Bowl XXVII and Arizona for Super Bowl XXX.
Gerald was a master electrician by trade, and owned Current Electric Company in San Angelo, Texas.
A private service was held on July 21, 2018, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Marie F. Granado, and three children, Jasmine Jade, Jeremy Jay, and Jaclyn Joy Granado; by his mother, Maria C. Granado; and by his sisters and brother, Leticia G. Reyes (David Reyes), Laura G. Slight (David Slight), Lilia G. Nanez (Ignacio Nanez, Jr.), and Manny C. Granado (Lydia Granado). He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel V. Granado.
