Gerardo F. Ramos was born in San Antonio, Texas, on Oct. 3, 1923, and passed away peacefully in Alpine, Texas, on Nov. 26, 2017. Mr. Ramos was a 22-year veteran of both the Army Air Corp and later of the U.S. Air Force. He served proudly during World War II and the Korean Conflict, where he earned two Bronze Stars. He continued serving his country as a civil servant until his retirement in October 1965.
Mr. Ramos is survived by his wife of 73 years, Leonor E. Ramos. He was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel J. Ramos and Gerardo F. Ramos, Jr. Surviving children are Andres (Andy) Ramos, Leonor Ramos, Tomas Ramos and George Ramos; grandchildren Christine Moreno, Claudia Brown, Noelia Garcia, Daniel J. Ramos, Jr., Josef Ramos, Ralph, Ricardo, and Lelaini Ramos; and numerous great grandchildren and nephews and nieces.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, by Deacon Paul Lister at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Davis, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Fr. Beto Lopez presiding. Military graveside will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home was entrusted with his services.
