Isabel Salas

Isabel O. Salas, 75, of Marathon, passed away at Big Bend Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 4 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Marathon. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, May 5 at St. Marys and burial to follow at the Marathon cemetery. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Salas was born in Terlingua, Texas on July 8, 1938 to Pedro and Francisca Salas. He had worked for the Texas Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his wife Olivia Salas of Marathon, a daughter, Esther Benavides and husband Cornelio Vega of Alpine, a son, Octavio Frausto and wife Esmeralda of Andrews, two sisters, Natividad Ortiz of Midland, Belen Leos of Salt Lake City, Utah, four brothers, Pete Salas of Marathon, Simon Salas of Alpine, Pablo Salas and Cirildo Salas both of Midland. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
