James Weldon Gilly, Jr., 63, of Marfa, passed away Friday, October 29, 2016 in Marfa, Texas.
A Memorial Service was held in Marfa at 11:00 a.m. a the First Baptist Church on Saturday, August 6, 2016.
James was born October 28, 1952 in Stephenville, Texas to James Weldon and Sara Jo Gilly.
He served honorably in the US Army for two years and served thirty years in Immigration and Naturalization/US Border Patrol. During his military career he was stationed overseas at Heidelberg, Germany and Fort Jackson, SC. Shorty after serving his country he embarked his career with U.S. Border Patrol, retiring October 28, 2002.
James married Naomi Razo Gilly on February 14, 1995 and remained partners in life for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife Naomi, children, Jeremy, Jaron, Jerick, Aaron, Janika and Jasalyn, a sister Deborah Sweeten from Carrizo Springs, Texas and three grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Weldon and Sara Jo Gilly.
James had a passion for music, and avid guitar player, and singer. He enjoyed hosting family and friends for cookout.
