It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe Luis Natera, Sr., on June 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with illness. He was born in Alpine, Texas on March 4, 1951, to the late Saturnino Natera, Sr. and Victoria Natera. He was a graduate of New Mexico Military Institute, a dedicated auto mechanic and a long-term employee of Sul Ross State University. His hobbies included softball, auto repair and restoration, house painting, construction and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his spouse Enedina Natera, son Jose Luis Natera, Jr., daughters Selina Natera Fuentes (and children) and Yvette Natera (and children), his stepchildren Rudy Perez (Ester and children), Melinda Redford (Ron and children), brother Saturnino Natera, Jr. (Cynthia and children) Edmundo Natera (Yolanda and children), sisters Gracie Natera Navarrette (Eddie and children) and Arlene Natera Gonzales (Chayo and children).
Lectors at the funeral Mass will be Esther Perez and Camilo Ryan Celaya III. The eulogy will be delivered by Yolanda Natera. Reciting the Rosary will be Divonne Uranga.
Pallbearers are to be Chayo Gonzales, Alex Gonzales, Eddie Navarrette Jr., Aaron Natera, Timmy Perez, Rudy Perez Jr., Eddie Ramos and Pablo Ybarra. Honorary pallbearers are Jr. Ramon, Eddie Navarrette Sr., Raul Rodriguez, Richard Portillo Jr., Benny Muñiz and Rudy Perez Sr.
