Joseph Paul Milder was called home to our Lord on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He and his wife Carolyn were longtime residents of Alpine, TX. He was a lifelong fan of baseball. It didn't matter too much who was playing, but definitely a fan of the Braves and Rangers. His introduction to baseball came from the Assumption Seminary in San Antonio while he was a student in the 1950s. He spent much of his life as a mechanic and metal fabricator (mechanics and fabrication were natural pursuits given his eye for detail and regard for safety). He got his start in metal fabrication with A. E. Collins in El Campo, TX. While he worked there, he enlisted in the Texas National Guard as a tank retriever mechanic, where he met the love of his life, Carolyn. They had three children and found their way to Alpine in the early 1970s where he spent the remainder of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn and two sons, Joseph Paul Milder, Jr. and Cecil Robert Milder and one granddaughter, Jackie Umoru.
He is survived by daughter, Julie Worden and son David C. Duncan; two brothers Frank and Louis; two sisters Diana and Mary Jo; 10 grandchildren Stephanie, David, Cari Jo, Buddy, Zachary, Ricky, Duncan, Ezekiel, Harley and Cassie; 9 great-grandchildren Chloe V, Joe fish, Addy, Marc, Jake, Dougie, Connor, Oliva and Chloe M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make charitable donations to the Alpine Volunteer Fire Department or you reach out to those you love and let them know how you feel about them, never let the occasion fall on a vacant audience.
