Juan Sotelo Ramirez, a beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Alpine, Texas, on December 5, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on July 7, 1944, in the same town that would cradle his life, Juan was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of everyday moments.

Juan's warm and engaging personality endeared him to friends and family alike. He had a unique knack for striking up a conversation, welcoming everyone with open arms and a heart full of kindness. His laughter and stories will echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.

Throughout his life, Juan diligently worked in various roles, with his most recent position being a dedicated maintenance worker at the Stripes Store in Alpine. His strong work ethic was evident in everything he did, and he took pride in contributing to his community.

Educated at Alpine Centennial School, Juan carried the spirit of learning and discovery into adulthood. In his spare time, he found joy in the thrill of scratching lottery tickets, watching football games, and preserving the serenity of quiet moments shared on his porch, where he loved to watch the world  and cars go by.

Juan was proud of his family, including his daughter Mary Jane Ramirez, his sons Jackie Ramirez, Nathan Ramirez, and Juan Ramirez, Jr., five cherished grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched. Juan’s love for his family was unwavering, and he poured affection into every interaction, nurturing bonds that will be cherished forever.

He is reunited in spirit with his beloved family members who preceded him, including his father Francisco Ramirez, his mother Eloisa Sotelo Ramirez, and his sons Andrew "Andy" Ramirez and Robert Ramirez. He also joins his siblings Manuel Ramirez, Jose Ramirez, Francisco Ramirez, Celia Villalva, Alvina Mata, Margarita Madrid, Genoveva Ortega, Maria Ramirez and Audelia Betancourt, as well as dear great-granddaughter Julissa. Their memories remain alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.
