Kevin O'Cuilinn, 77, died unexpectedly and painlessly on August 16, 2016 at his home in Alpine, Texas. Jean, his wife, was at his side.
Kevin was best described by those who knew him as a self-made entrepreneur and rugged iconoclast. In Jean, he found the perfect partner to join him for a life of adventure.
His career as an accomplished pilot and avocation as an enthusiastic sailor took him around the world. He practiced Zen meditation for more than twenty-five years, and was centered in his faith for a life of service to others while launching ever-new projects and explorations. His energy was boundless, and he was a rare individual who was full of confidence and discipline, seasoned with integrity and unapologetic honesty.
In addition to Jean, Kevin is survived by his daughter Jill Sherling of Santa Fe, TX and grandson Jake Sherling of Albuquerque, NM; his brothers, Gary Cullen and wife Kathleen of Vancouver, WA, and Steve Cullen and wife Patsy of Columbia City, OR; and his sister Mary Cullen Hilton of Chapin, SC.
Private services will be held later. In lieu of flowers or donations, do a kind deed for others. Jean is especially grateful for the many kindnesses offered by their friends.
Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the O'Cuilinn family.
