Guadalupe "Lupe" Venegas of Marfa, Texas passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, October 22, 2017, she was 83.
Lupe was born in Presidio (Loma Pelona), Texas on December 11, 1933 to Raymundo Lujan and Francisca Lujan (Herrera). Lupe graduated Marfa High School, and was married to Manuel Venegas.
Rosary will be prayed on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be recited at 11:00 Am with Father John Paul Madanu serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are: Michael Madrid, David Madrid, Richard Parras, Carlos Parras, Richard Rios, and Ruben Reyes.
Lupe worked for Safeway in Marfa for over 25 years. She never met a stranger, and enjoyed meeting new people and interacting with them. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, as well as babysitting other children in the Marfa community. Lupe was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Bereavement Society. She was very active in her church community. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed cooking for her family as well as going to coffee at the local Dairy Queen with her close friends.
Preceding Lupe in death are her parents Raymundo and Francisca Lujan; her husband Manuel Venegas; and one daughter Linda Mae Nunez.
Those left to cherish and honor the memory of Lupe are: her daughter Gracie Parras and husband Nacho; stepson Manuel Venegas, Jr. and wife Janie; one sister Margarita Reyes; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as many beloved friends.
