Father, husband, son and best friend, Manuel Rodriguez, born June 24, 1933, went to our Savior on Sunday, August 21, 2015.
Manuel was born in Fort Davis, Texas to Maria and Antonio Rodriguez. He worked as a laborer with Ms. Juliet Rowley for fourteen years, with the Jeff Davis County Road and Bridge for eight years, with John Robert at Prude Ranch for seven years and finally moved to Odessa and worked in maintenance with the Ector County ISD at the Agriculture Farm.
After retirement he moved back to Fort Davis and enjoyed the rest of his life gardening, which was the passion of his life.
Manuel was a fourth generation descendant of Anton Diedrick Dutchover, an original settler of Fort Davis. He contributed part of his land so the public can have access to the Pioneer Cemetery located in Fort Davis, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Hortensia Rodriguez of Fort Davis; three sons, Eddie and wife Norma, Antonio and wife Jackie, Larry and wife Priscilla; two daughters, Rachel and husband Indalecio Hernandez and Rosemary and husband Hector Covos; fourteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Rosary service was held at 7pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Davis. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am, today, August 25, 2016 at St. Joseph's and burial to follow at St. Joseph's cemetery. Fr. Jovino Antonio Martinez Cevallos will officiate.
Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Rodriguez, Tony Rodriguez, Larry Rodriguez, Hector Covos, Indalecio Hernandez, Johnny Rodriguez, Carlos Salcido, and Gradon Hicks. Honorary pallbearer is Lupe Garcia.
