She was born Sept. 13, 1948, in Marfa to Eliza Melendez. Margarita was a graduate of Marfa High School. While attending Marfa public schools, she met and fell in love with Johnny Sanchez.

The couple was married on Feb. 4, 1967, and spent 49 wonderful years together. Margarita and Johnny had two children, Esmeralda and Ruben.

Margarita was a fantastic cook; she loved making awesome hamburgers for her family and friends. Those who knew her well know that she cooked the most awesome burgers and that they will truly be missed.

She enjoyed raising turtles as well as looking after her newest addition, her cottontail bunnies.

Margarita was an avid storyteller, telling her wonderful stories to her family and friends and leaving a lasting memory upon them all.

Margarita was an avid computer game player, playing The Bears, Candy Crush and Cradle of Athena on her iPad and DS, both of which she would always have with her.

Margarita was a VIP member of Westward Ho Casino until the casino was closed and demolished. She then became a VIP member of The Riviera until it closed last year.

Margarita loved to travel following Johnny's retirement. They traveled by motorcycle seeing America.

In 1994 Margarita and Johnny traveled to Washington, D.C., as part of "Rolling Thunder" to visit the Vietnam War Memorial and to pay tribute to the brave American soldiers who gave their lives for our country.

Margarita was a beloved Dallas Cowboy fan. Win, lose or draw, no one could say a bad word about her beloved Cowboys.

Several years ago Margarita's daughter Esmeralda honored her mother with a trip of a lifetime to travel to Irving to see the Cowboys play.
