Maria Aguirre

Maria Herrera Aguirre, 85, of Marfa, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas.

Viewing will be held at the Geeslin Chapel in Alpine, Tx, Friday, March 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Geeslin chapel also on Friday. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Marfa, Tx on Saturday, March 22 with burial to follow at the Merced cemetery. Fr. Rolando Fonseca will officiate. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Aguirre was born in Big Spring, Texas on July 11, 1928 to Jose Inez and Leonor Herrera. She was a homemaker and had lived in Marfa for many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty A. Nunez of Marfa and Lorina Tarango of Morton, Tx. Her brother, Santiago Herrera of Big Spring. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren and one stepdaughter.
