Michael Dorris

Michael Perry Doris, 66, of Balmorhea, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at Sierra Providence East Hospital in El Paso, Texas.

Mike was born in Alpine, Texas on June 6, 1949, to the late Doug and Margie Dorris. He was an Alpine High School graduate and also attended Sul Ross State University. In 1968, he joined the US Navy and served on the nuclear sub, the USS Ethan Allen.

Mike is survived by his son, Stephen Dorris, of Marfa, brothers, David Dorris of Milton, N.H. and Billy Jack Doris of Van Horn.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Tyrrel Anne Hughes.

Memorial service will be held July 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Geeslin Chapel (209 W. Sul Ross Ave.) in Alpine, Texas. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fort Davis, Texas. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
