Paula "Polly" Moya

October 3, 1956 — November 24, 2024

Alpine

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paula "Polly" Moya, also known as "Wuela" to her grandchildren who loved her deeply, who departed from this world on November 24, 2024, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Born on October 3, 1956, in Alpine, Texas, Polly was a vibrant spirit whose life was dedicated to caring for others. As a devoted employee at Alpine Nursing Home, she found fulfillment in her work supporting and nurturing the elderly.

She met and married the love of her life, "Moya" in 1983 and they spent 22 blissful years together before his passing. Polly's family-centered nature was one of her most cherished qualities. She enjoyed innumerable moments with her beloved grandchildren, Anthony Marquez, Jr., Jacque Marquez, and Damian and Santiago Moya. Her warmth and attentive listening made her not just a family member but also a confidante and a friend. The values instilled in her during her upbringing by her father, a rancher for the 06 ranch, shaped the incredible woman she became. Raised in a close-knit family in Alpine, her roots remained forever strong in her heart.

Alongside her dedication to family and career, Polly had a zest for life that shone through her love for music—especially country and Spanish genres. Known for her welcoming demeanor, she could light up a room with her infectious laughter and was famed among family and friends for her homemade chili con queso. Polly had a unique ability to connect with those around her, never meeting a stranger.

Her loss is profoundly felt by her surviving family: her sons, Anthony Marquez, married to Mari, and Javier Moya, married to Melinna; her dear sisters Angie Marquez and Joanna Alba; and her brother Johnny Marquez.

Polly has rejoined her loved ones who have preceded her in death, including her husband, Manuel Moya, and her granddaughters, Jolinna and Loraiya Moya. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Arcelia "Elia" and Nieves Marquez, Sr., and her brother, Nieves Marquez, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on December 7, 2024, beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by a Prayer Service at 10:30 AM, and concluding with a Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church located at 406 S 6th St, Alpine, TX, 79830.

Paula "Polly" Moya leaves behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and strength. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her.

We will miss her saying, "I LOVE YOU CHINGOS."  We will forever carry you in our hearts.
