Phyllis Ellen Inman Holochwost was born March 11, 1933 in Raubsville, PA to Raymond and Ruth Inman. Phyllis graduated from Temple University in 1954 as a Registered Nurse. She married Richard Holochwost on April 16, 1955 in Phillipsburg, NJ. they moved to El Paso, TX in 1956 via United States Army, where they built a home and raised 6 children and 11 grandchildren. Phyllis was blessed with here first 2 great grandchildren shortly after moving to Alpine, TX in 2008.
Phyllis spent a considerable amount of time working for St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Raphael Catholic Church in El Paso, TX. After more than 10 years of service collecting donations, working at the thrift store and managing the society as President, Phyllis was honored by the Bishop of El Paso Diocese with the Oak of Justice award.
Phyllis was also a master seamstress. She sewed clothes for her children and grandchildren. She would knit and crochet beautiful afghans, donating baby blankets to Project Linus and children of Peru.
Phyllis was one of the most selfless, kind and giving people God has blessed this planet with. Phyllis lived her faith and was a perfect example of Christ's love. Phyllis faced life's challenges without complaint and with a smile.
Phyllis was survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Richard of Alpine, Tx, daughter Stephanie Tellez of Torrance CA; granddaughters Anne Marie, Rhea Claire and Adelina, son Matthew Holochwost of Abilene, Tx ; grandchildren Michael and Jennifer, son Joseph Holochwost of Victoria, Tx; wife Sharon and grandson Aaron, daughter Cindy Slocumb of Alpine; husband Paul, daughter Dianne Sanchez of Alpine; husband David grandson Jacob McNicol wife Paula and great grandson Jaxon, son Maxwell McNicol wife Melissa and great granddaughter Lilliana, and daughter Jeanne Garrett of Denton,Tx; husband Andrew grandchildren Laura, Katie and Phillip.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for Masses to be offered for the Holy Souls of Purgatory, or donations to Sunshine house of Alpine, Tx or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Rosary and Mass services will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.alpinememorialfuneralhome.com.
