Ramona Cardona

Ramona Cardona, age 86, of Fort Davis, passed away due to complications for diabetes, on July 18, 2021 in Alpine, Texas.

Rosary was held on Thursday, July 22 at St. Joseph’ s Catholic Church in Fort Davis. Funeral Mass followed the rosary. Burial followed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Cardona was born in Aquiles Serdan, Chihuahua, Mexico on august 8, 1934 to Dolores  and Demetrio Lazos. She married Salvador Cardona on February of 1960. She enjoyed painting, gardening and loved feeding hummingbirds in her garden. She loved to read the Bible and was a devout catholic all her life. She served her church as on altar server, catechist and was a matachin dancer. She was a fervent devotee of the Virgin Mary and love to pray the rosary.

Survivors include her husband, Salvador Cardona; Yolanda Cardona, Alvaro Cardona, Sergio Cardona (Irene) of Odessa and Veronica Jones (Jamie) of Lubbock; and six grandsons and four granddaughters.

Her son Javier Cardona preceded her in death in July 2017.

Pallbearers were Gabriela Cardona, Jamie Luna, Francisco Cardona, Hector Cardona, Julius Jones and Alvaro Cardona.

Services have been entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home in Alpine, Texas.
