Rosemary was born in El Paso, Texas September 23, 1930 to parents Scott Lee Plumbley and Julia Marlowe Ellison Plumbley. At the age of 14 they moved to Marfa, back to her pioneer roots. She was a member of an early pioneer family - the Ellison's, who came to Presidio County in 1183. She loved Marfa and developed many lifelong friendships. Some of her most fond memories were of being horseback riding from one end of town to the other. She graduated from Marfa High School in 1947, then attended TCU and Sul Ross University where she received a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in counseling. She taught school in Norman, Oklahoma and Marfa schools for thirty years. Rosemary married Ernest Scott Gibbens, Jr. in 1949. They had three sons, which she often said was her greatest joy. Ernest Scott Gibbens married to wife Linda residing in Lance Creek, Wyoming, John Lee Gibbens married to wife Margaret residing in Rocksprings, Wyoming, Dr. Gene Clement Gibbens married to wife Laurie residing in Sonora, Texas. Her legacy continues with six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Rosemary later married Buster Cox sharing a ranch life raising quality Hereford cattle and Quarter horses. This was a time she reflected fondly upon. She maintained her love of horses and dogs throughout her long life.
She spent her last year in San Angelo at New Haven Assisted Living, where she was surrounded by many new friends and kind, loving workers.
She passed on to her heavenly home quietly on February 20, 2019.
