Verda Lee Robertson "Meme" passed from our world to the loving arms of Jesus on July 16, 2017. Born to Charles Earl Berry and Luvinia Clendining Berry on December 3, 1925 in Parker County, Texas. Throughout her life she shared her light with the area of West Texas. In the early years, Verda attended Weatherford's Business College, receiving her associate in law enforcement, until meeting and marrying the love of her life in 1946. Johnnie and Verda Lee planted seed in Plains, Texas where they built on their love and had three children: Linda, JP and Bit. They moved their family of five in the early 1970's to Alpine, Texas where Verda received her BA and MA in business at Sul Ross State University. It was here that she grew her love of arrow head and coin collecting. The residents of Alpine knew Meme for her kind, godly heart and great cooking; there wasn't a soul around who didn't feel at home around her. Not only did Verda enjoy the little things in life, but loved her community. Quickly following her move, she assumed the position of Justice of the Peace, became a longtime member of the Methodist church, and started her own floral business, which she ran for decades. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, a brother, her husband, one son, an infant grandson and her granddaughter whom loved immensely. Verda is survived by her daughter Linda Murray and husband Tom, her son Bit Robertson, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a daughter in law, along with many extended family and friends. The love and joy Meme spread will always be remembered as pure as she was.
Graveside services will be held at the Elm Grove cemetery on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 10 a.m. Karen McGuire will officiate. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
