Violeta Jimenez Vasquez, loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother, of Fort Davis, Texas, passed away on September 21, 2022, in San Antonio at the age of 81.
Visitation will be at 9:00am, followed by The Rosary at 9:30am, and the funeral mass immediately following at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 27 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Davis, Texas.
Fr. Pablo Matta of Our Lady of Peace of Alpine will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.
Violeta was born in Fort Davis, Texas to Esther Granado Jimenez and Jose Gonzales Jimenez on February 6, 1941. She attended school at Anderson Elementary and was a graduate of Fort Davis High School. In high school, she was an all-district basketball player, was on the volleyball team, and a cheerleader. She married Daniel H. Vasquez on September 3, 1961. She loved giving to her community by helping in the schools where her children attended, being a precinct worker for local elections, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a founding board member of the Friends of the Jeff Davis County Library. Violeta had a devotion to the Holy Family, and her faith was her guide in all that she did. She loved to cook, listen to music, and be outside watering the trees and plants.
Violeta is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Esther Jimenez and her brothers Elias, Federico, Jose, and Toribio as well as her sisters, Ofelia, and Irene.
Violeta is survived in death by her loving husband, Daniel H. Vasquez: daughter, Esther Surbaugh, husband Steve, and granddaughter Soledad: son, Randy Vasquez: son, Daniel Vasquez and wife Mini: her sister Guadalupe and brother Eriberto.
Pallbearers will be Elizardo Aranda, Mario Aranda, Fidel Vasquez, Joe Allen Jimenez, Leo Orozco, and Bobby Pippen
Memorials may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Methodist Hospital for their care and compassion, our family and friends for their love and support, the St. Joseph Catholic Church community, and Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.
